Buyer-side PPI

Pre-Purchase Inspection in Green Brook Township

A pre-purchase inspection at RSW European Auto Repair is a buyer-side report on a used European or high-line car before money moves. Green Brook does a lot of PPI work. Exotic cars often come for the inspection and never return for repairs. That is a fine reason to book. It is not a promise of cheap Lamborghini or Ferrari labor. Ferrari and Lamborghini dealers often beat independent prices to keep the car. The shop is 228 US-22, Green Brook Township. Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, 908-223-7477.

Why it matters here

A test drive on Route 22 alone will not tell you if a cylinder is already gone, if a timing chain has jumped, or if a head gasket is seeping. Compression and leak-down go in the written report. A lamp that is already on is engine diagnostics in the same visit, not a separate mystery. A cold idle that sounds fine in Green Brook can still hide a cylinder that is down 20 percent. Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, and Genesis PPI visits use the same lift and report format.

Related reading still lives on older posts about pre-purchase inspections. This URL is the service you book. A full 30/60/90k style inspection is listed as complimentary in some maintenance contexts on the pricing page. A buyer-side PPI on a car you do not own yet is this page.

Service history gaps

We look for invoices that match the mileage, not a freshly printed snapshot alone. Missing DSG or ZF service, missing brake fluid, a timing chain that was about to be done around 50k on a VW, Audi, or Porsche, and a battery that was jumped at the sale are the items that change a price. We write those gaps down. We do not fill them in with guesses. If the seller will not leave the car for a lift, that is a finding too. Carbon on DI intake valves can move a buyer toward carbon cleaning after the purchase, and we will say when the valves look like that from a borescope.

Westfield and Scotch Plains cars still take salt, and a Route 22 test drive will not replace a lift. We look at subframe mounts, brake lines, floor pans, and strut towers with the shields off. A steam-cleaned engine bay and a new cabin filter are not structure. Wet inner fenders after a pressure wash are not a leak test. We photograph what is actually on the lift so you can negotiate or walk away.

Not a state inspection

A PPI will not print a state sticker, will not certify emissions, and will not replace a safety-inspection station. What we will do is tell you if the car is a mechanical risk to buy. Lamborghini and Ferrari cars often arrive for this inspection and never come back for the repair list. That is expected. We will still sell you an honest PPI. We will not position 228 US-22 as the cheap place to rebuild an exotic after the dealer quoted the job to keep the car.

How the job runs

Tell us the year, engine, and whether the seller will leave it. Exotics are welcome for the report.

Numbers in the report, not a verbal it ran fine.

Salt, structure, leaks, brakes, chain-area oil, boots.

Shifts, pulls, noises, temperature. A parking-lot idle is not a test.

What is wrong, what is a gap, what is a walk-away. No New Jersey sticker.

Frequently asked questions

Will you do a PPI on a Ferrari or Lamborghini?
Yes. Many of those cars come for the inspection and never return for repairs. That is fine. We will not pretend independent exotic labor is cheaper than the dealer that wants to keep the car.
Is this a New Jersey state inspection?
No. We do not print a state sticker and we do not certify emissions. This is a mechanical buyer report.
Can the seller wait in the lobby?
They can. If they will not leave the car on the lift, that goes in the report. A five-minute start-up is not a PPI.
Do you PPI Lexus and Infiniti?
Yes. High-line Asian cars use the same lift and the same report format.
What if the car fails and I still buy it?
Then you have a punch list. Engine repair, carbon cleaning, and chain work are separate bookings. The PPI does not include those repairs.
How do I book from out of town?
Call 908-223-7477, Monday through Friday 8 to 5. Pickup and delivery can be arranged. The car still has to spend time on the lift at 228 US-22.
Can I get a pre-purchase inspection near me?
Yes, for Westfield and Scotch Plains. Buyer-side PPIs happen at 228 US-22 in Green Brook Township. Call 908-223-7477, Monday through Friday 8 to 5.
