A/C Repair for European Cars in Green Brook

Green Brook summers on Route 22 cook a European A/C loop that is already short on gas. RSW European Auto Repair recovers, leak-tests, and repairs R-134a and R-1234yf systems at 228 US-22. We do not top off a leaking condenser and send you back into US-22 traffic. Monday through Friday 8 to 5, 908-223-7477. RepairPal certified. Need a ride while your car is with us? Ask when you book.

Why it matters here

Many late Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, and VW loops use R-1234yf with unique couplers, oil, and dye. Putting the wrong refrigerant in a yf loop is a contamination job, not a recharge. We identify the label on the core support, use the matching machine, and only then talk about a fill weight. Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, and Genesis climate systems come through the same recovery process as a European specialist that also services those high-line makes.

If the vents are cold and the engine is still running hot, that is cooling-system repair, not more refrigerant.

A recharge without leak dye fails the first hot week in July. A system that is a pound low has a hole. On Route 22 the extra load from stop-and-go and the sun on a dark cabin makes the gap obvious by the time you reach the shop from Watchung or Scotch Plains. Watchung Reservation is a nearby Union County drive from those towns, not a park inside Green Brook, and a European loop that is a pound low will still fade on that trip. We recover what is left, vacuum, and look for dye at the condenser seams, line crimps, evaporator drains, and compressor shaft seals.

How the job runs

The under-hood label, not a guess from the model year. Yf and 134a machines stay separate.

What came out tells us how empty the loop was. We do not add gas on top of an unknown charge.

Dye, nitrogen, or an electronic sniffer at condensers, crimps, and seals.

Condenser, line, evaporator, or compressor. Then a correct oil and dye for that refrigerant.

Not until the leak is closed. Then a vent-temperature check in the Green Brook lot.

Skip the top-off

European condensers sit low and close to the bumper. Road debris on US-22 finds them. A shop that adds a can because the vent is warm is selling you a week of cold air and a second visit in July. We would rather recover, find the dye, and replace the condenser once.

Cabin filters and blend-door faults get their own honest sentence. If the gas is full and the vent is still wrong, the repair is not on this refrigerant page. We will point you at the module or the box instead of selling a dye service you do not need.

Signs you need this

A charge that is already low. The evaporator ices, then starves. Topping off without dye repeats the week.

The most common European leak point after road debris on US-22. The condenser is the repair, not another can.

Evaporator and drain, sometimes a cabin filter. Not refrigerant. We inspect the box before we recover gas that is not the complaint.

Low charge, a failed control valve, or a seized pump. We measure pressures before we sell a compressor.

Blend doors and actuators, not a recharge. That is a climate-control diagnosis, and we will say so.

Software and pressure sensors on yf systems. A parts-store gauge set will not talk to that module.

Frequently asked questions

Can you recharge R-1234yf here?
Yes. Late German cars with yf get the matching machine, oil, and coupler. We will not put 134a into a yf loop.
Why will you not just add a can?
Because a pound low is a hole. On a Green Brook July day the extra can is gone by the next week, and now the loop is mixed with dye you cannot see because nobody looked.
Do you work on Lexus and Infiniti A/C?
Yes. High-line Asian climate systems use the same recovery process in this shop.
My Audi blows cold on the highway and warm in traffic. Is that the compressor?
Often it is a low charge, a weak fan, or a condenser that cannot dump heat at idle on Route 22. We measure before we sell a compressor.
How soon can you see an A/C car in summer?
Monday through Friday, 8 to 5. Same-week is common if the condenser is in stock. Ask about a ride, pickup, or after-hours drop-off when you book at 908-223-7477.
Is there European A/C repair near me?
Yes, for Watchung and Scotch Plains. We recover and leak-test R-134a and R-1234yf at 228 US-22 in Green Brook Township. Call 908-223-7477, Monday through Friday 8 to 5.
