You needn’t worry about your exotic automobile. We treat our customers and their cars as if they were part of our family. If your Lamborghini has 100,000 miles on it or has just celebrated its 10th birthday, the thermostat is reaching the end of its life. Here are signs that you need a new thermostat in the sports car.
Corrosion on the Housing
Forgive us if you already know this, but the thermostat is the cooling system part that opens a valve to send the coolant into the engine. As the thermostat ages, the valve can get stuck. When this happens, the coolant seeps out of the valve and puddles around the metal thermostat housing. Naturally, when the liquid makes contact with the metal, it corrodes it. Consequently, you actually need a new thermostat at this point. You do not want to allow the corrosion to eat its way through the metal. If you do, you will end up with?
Coolant in the Garage
This is an indication that the thermostat is leaking severely. You will back your Lamborghini out of the garage and see coolant spots or puddles on the garage floor. If you cut the engine right away, it will be cool enough to check the coolant to see if it is low. If it is, it’s a safe bet that the thermostat has a severe leak and you shouldn’t drive your Lamborghini. Operating it with a low coolant level will cause the engine to overheat.
Erratic Engine Temps
Sometimes, the thermostat never develops a leak. Rather, or in tandem with the leak, it starts to malfunction. As we mentioned above, the thermostat sends the coolant into the engine to prevent it from overheating. If it starts to malfunction, it may be unable to determine the exact temperature of the Lamborghini’s engine.
When this happens, the thermostat will send the coolant to the engine at the incorrect time. Consequently, you will see the temperature gauge needle moving up and down on the Lamborghini’s dashboard. This is a sign that the thermostat is faulty and needs to be replaced. Eventually, it will die in your engine will overheat all the time.
